Homeowner Settles Her Negligence Claim Against Cleaning Company for $2 Million

glass-shards-2mOn June 27 Plaintiff accepted $2 Million to settle her Middlesex County Case says her Attorney Nicholas J. Leonardis of Stathis & Leonardis in Edison.

In August 2009 plaintiff hired Service Master Clean to remediate her basement following a flood. During the work workers dropped a box full of glassware scattering glass all over the basement floor. Defendants assured plaintiff that they would clean up the breakage and the floor would be as if it was new.

Days later plaintiff went down to the basement for beach towels when she stepped on pieces of glass that went in her foot. Surgery was required to remove the glass and plaintiff later became debilitated and failed all forms of conservative treatment developing Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (C.R.P.S a/k/a R.S.D), an extremely painful and debilitating neurologic condition which presently has no known cure.

Attorney Leonardis states that the defense argued their trained employees cleaned and performed there job properly. However, Leonardis confirms that his investigation revealed that the defendants were using not only untrained people but also "off the books" day laborers who had absolutely no training in flood remediation.
Attorney Leonardis confirms that the $2 Million settlement represented the Full policy Limits of the Defendant which the defense offered shortly following An Arbitration hearing.
